Octave mandoline strings with magnetic pickup?

Octave mandoline strings with magnetic pickup?

Hello!
I try differrent types of strings including Pyramid or DAddario, but them all are mostly bronze which is not really good for magnetic pickups.
What I want is steel/nickel sting set with an octave option for D and G. It could be called Irish bouzouki strings - does not really matter I suppose.
Could you advise any?

Re: Octave mandoline strings with magnetic pickup?

You could use electric guitar strings, usually available as singles in good music shops, and make up a set yourself?

Re: Octave mandoline strings with magnetic pickup?

I buy D’Addario nickel wound, looped ended single strings for my zouk. Not because of a pickup, but because my sweat kills phosphor bronze strings quickly.

Anyway, you can get what ever gauges you want to make up at set.

How about an acoustic bug of some sort instead ?
Actually, I use a magnetic pickup on my ‘zouk, with phosphor-bronze strings, and it’s fine in an amplified situation. Have you listened to the effect, or are you struggling for an optimum result ?
After all, it’s not every string that’s bronze ( covered ), especially if you use octaves on the bass.
