Wedding tune

Wedding tune

Can anyone suggest a good tune for a wedding? Specifically for just before the ceremony, when the couple arrives (like when they are walking up the aisle, although this will be outside).

Thanks!

Caro

Re: Wedding tune

I know folks might find fault with these, as I am a newbie and don't really know what I'm doing, but, here goes:
Wedding March from Unst, Haste to the Wedding, Star of the County Down

Re: Wedding tune

I played "Fanny Power" at my son's wedding on the flute, backed by a string quartet. Seemed to go over well.

I married my wife and advanced like a slave.

Is that in the tune database?

Re: Wedding tune

Mairie's Wedding is one that we used to use - though it may be a bit quick for a processional. . .

Re: Wedding tune

O'Carolan wrote a lovely Wedding March for his daughter Siobhan on the occassion of her marriage to Captain Sudley called Planxty Sudley, you will find it in the O'Carolan Collection, or on CD by St Louis Irish Arts. bPat

Re: Wedding tune

I played at a wedding two weeks ago. The bride requested 'Give me your hand' as they walked up the Aisle and 'O Carolan's Concerto' as they walked down the Aisle. That's what we played.

Re: Wedding tune

The Wedding Jig is a great tune played at weddings in Donegal, I think it's meant to be played when the bride and groom are leaving the altar, then again I could be wrong!

O'Carolan's Lord Inchiquin might be a nice processional

Re: Wedding tune

I second Give me your hand, especially if you can get your talented cousins to play it much better than I could, for our wedding.
