I had a basic model (31 key with metal end) for a while and it was a very good instrument. He uses traditional concertina reeds and has both Wheatstone and Jeffries models, which you can customize with additional keys, I think.
You should contact Chris Algar at Barleycorn Concertinas. There's a good chance he has a few available and he's a very reputable dealer.
they are good
.they are a bit heavier than most other quality makes, the bellows take a bit of time to wear in.
I have two in my house, they are both good. http://www.dickmiles.com
I've only played for a year and had a Rochelle before the Connor, so take this for what it's worth as i haven't played any other concertinas. But i am very happy with the Connor, and as an intermediate instrument it's certainly meeting my needs and feel it will keep doing so until my Dipper is ready.
I paid £1500 from Chris for it. And for a nice set of concertina reeds in a brand new box with riveted action i think that was a good price.
Anyway, i'm certainly a happy squeezer with my Connor.
John Connor concertinas
John Connor concertinas
Does anyone play one or used to play one? I'd like to know a bit more about them. I basically don't know anything except that John Connor makes them
Thanks!
