Donegal Tune

This is from the first disc of Donegal fiddler Vincent Campbell’s 2CD "The Purple Heather": http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/3550 There’s a Shamrock Jig in the database already so that’s what the link at this page gives you, instead of this tune.
Vincent sometimes plays (3ege in the 2nd bar of the 2nd part as a little variant.

Nice! Makes me want to dust off the old piano accordion. Is that from someone’s playing, or just your own take on it? Like it’s been, hmm, "Shand-i-fied"? ;) How about sending it through the "Kimmelizer"?

"Kimmelizer", I like that.

It was familiar, if not sure that includes the name, but I knew it from memory as a 32 bar tune… I did do an initial look through some of my notebooks but didn’t find it, at least not yet. Everything isn’t here and our main computer is still down, with me avoiding it for the moment…

Mind you, I did spend some time with the Campbell family way back when, and with other musicians in that community, fond memories and great music, and dancing too. I remember that Vincent had a great passion for the local traditions and musicians and consequently knew quite a lot of interesting tunes… This one makes more sense to me as 32 bars.

D’ya have the album? On the first go round he does play the 1st part twice for some reason. Think I counted the bars out correctly. Slowly getting the hang of the ABCs…am trying to walk around lilting "dAF DFA Bed cBA" etc. Have gotten past the stage of being bothered by people wondering if I’m right in the head for singing in public!

Just ask me how I am capable of singing a letter in lower case, too. ;)

Me too - singing in public. A tune gets in my head and I find myself lilting, sometimes not fully aware of it until I need to do something else, like pay for my groceries… ;-)
