‘Country Dance’ in Ireland - music and dances
While not as well known, ‘country dances’, including the likes of Playford and Walsh, were very much a part of the history of Ireland too, and many were still in living memory after World War II. One widespread and well remembered and known ‘country dance’ was "Sir Roger de Coverly"… There are also copies of some of these early dance collections to be found in The National Library in Dublin, the Trinity College Library, and elsewhere.
