Princess Ann

I stumbled upon this fine little 3/2 hornpipe while I was on the phone discussing the very same subject with my good friend Kevin. Our discussion led us to try and find some historical context on the dance form, which led us to this site:

http://chrisbrady.itgo.com/dance/stepdance/hornpipe_conference.htm

The website had some excellent information, as well as facsimiles of some very old 3/2 tunes, along with diagrams
of how they were to be danced (they look RIDICULOUSLY complicated, BTW). I decided that I wanted to hear one, so I transcribed the dots into ABC on the spot. Upon listening to it, I decided that it sounded wonderfully Baroque & was in need of some kind of counterpoint. So I gave it a bass (the best sound for MIDI playback is the "Acoustic Grand Piano" setting on ABCexplorer, which is what I use):

Enjoy, and please feel free to give me some feedback on this, it’s much appreciated! (Ahem! Paging Dr. Dow…Dr. Dow…) :-)
