Re the reel of mullinavat.
The reel appears in Peter Cooper’s "The complete Irish fiddler". It caught my attention because my grandparents are buried there. My grandfather Pat Wallace had a good reputation as a fiddler around the area and hailed from nearby Ballyquin. I don’t know if he ever played this reel. I have had a go at it but have never seemed to commit it to memory.
Andy McGann’s Setting of The Reel of Mullinavat
This is how Andy McGann played this one.
I’ve never heard two people play this tune the same - so I just decided to stick to this setting. That c natural in the second go around of the a part is what sold me.

The Reel of Mullanavat
I’ve been struggling with this tune for a long time, partly because it’s been recorded and played in many different ways, and partly because the first two bars of it is very similar to those of Connemara Stockings: http://thesession.org/tunes/614
