There is a reel by this name also. This fine jig can be heard on an album by Red Shift (1987) ‘Back in the Red’, which I kindly got from the redoubtable Pete Coe, from Ripponden.

Around the World for Sport - 48-Bar Version
Setting #2 is the three-part (48-bar) version that I know.
A YouTube rendering of setting #2 by the Jig Mad Wolf Ceilidh Band is here:
(Tune begins at 01:10 )
What challenging sound!
Round the World for Sport
This a setting from "Howe’s 1,000 Jigs and Reels, Etc. ", Boston 1867.
The first part of this jig is clearly related to the reel of the same name http://thesession.org/tunes/1011 - it is harder to hear any connection in the second part.
The middle part of the three part version is pretty much the same, save for the last two bars (which echo the ending of the last part), as the second part of Lanigan’s Ball. I suspect the middle part was added by a dance musician to make the tune suitable for a 48-bar dance.
