The First Pint

Thanks Yvan for the tune. Actually I learned it in the workshop last summer, but it seems my fingers don’t like the tune and I lost the sheetmusic the tutor gave me. It’s a lovely tune, which I’ve been struggling to learn by ear.

Yes, the tutor got it from Kevin Crawford’s album. According to the notes, it’s a composition of Manchester fiddler Colin Farrell.

I heard it several times in different places, so I guess this tune had been well-circulated before that recording. Cape Breton fiddler Mairi Rankin also recorded the tune on her solo album, but it’s quite unlikely she got it from Kevin Crawford’s album simply because the two recordings were released in the same year.

Wha Tunes next?

My teacher taught me this tune but i cant remember what one he played after it?
i think it was the flying wheelchair…. any ideas?

Kevin Crawford plays the Flying Wheelchair next so it probably was

Variation

Just adding the version I know. Really only a minor variation on the first one listed here.
