Barfly is a Mac ABC program. The problem seems to be with the second ending at the start of a line. If the 1 or 2 to indicate a 1st or 2nd ending is the first character in a line, Barfly objects. You can either re-organize the line breaks as Jack did or use [1 and [2 to indicate 1st and 2nd endings. The latter gives you the flexibility to adjust the line breaks however you like.
