hey, sorry that i havent been around in a while but with christmas exams at school it was kinda hectic. anyhow, here is a nice but rare tune as far as i know that i got from the airds collection of 1789.

A nit to pick
Sorry to get technical. I just wondered what was meant by the F-natural in the 2nd part, since there isn't any F# (or, indeed, F-flat) in the key signature.

Tune name confusion
in wales the tune is known as ali grogan and believed to be london stage or scottish in origin. its generally played in g major in wales thanks to the dance tune books but a few of us in west wales play it in a modal with shifting c/csharps. i understand its been here since the eighteenth century also.
the welsh title sounds like alley crocker, given in your database as an english reel and i found this in an early irish tune title index here

found for a song "No more vain Virgins" in the ballad opera
'Love in a Riddle', but the tune doesn't sound much like "Ally
Croker" to me, and Chappell did not give the ballad opera tune.
Code of tune in ballad opera is Gc 2/2 5L111 227L2. An untitled
tune, #2 in BO/Brittons Strike Home has also been identified as
"Ally Croker" but codes: Ac 4/4 (4) 1111 227L2, "Maggy Lawder".
Change from "Croker" to "Croaker" was evidently in S. Foote's
play 'An Englishman in Paris', 1753. Tune is that for Wm
Collins' "Golden days of good Queen Bess", G. Colman's
"Unfortunate Miss Bailey" and S. Woodworth's "The Hunters of
Kentucky"]
