The Jig of Port Fleadh
This is transcriberd from Jack and Jimmy Coen's album 'Traditional Irish Music On Flute And Guitar.' It gets a fair amount of play in the NY/NJ area from students of Jack Coen (of which there are many). According to the liner notes, it is a Sean Ryan composition (originally in A).
I first learned this tune from Parick Ourceau (who recorded it with Gearóid O hAllmhuráin on Tacin' and also learned it from Jack).
There. I think that's enough name dropping for one post. Please let me know if there are any correction to be made.

By the way, the version that Patrick and Gearóid play on their album is one full step down from the version transcribed here. At the time it was taught to me, he was playing a fiddle that was tuned down one step.

I've wondered about the meaning of the title, ie what is Port Fleadh. Surely not "The Jig of the Fleadh Jig"?

Like the 'Department of Redundancy Department'? Hmm, don't know. I'll make a point to ask about it, assuming my increasingly feeble mind can remember . . . um . . . er . . . what were we talking about again?
