In my local session. However, I have to believe the person who played it and told me the composer. But I think he's OK with his sources, and he is rarely wrong. After that some search on gogol, I also found it on an ABC page, played by Olivier Rozent.

But I can't remember which one, sorry.
O.Rozent is also a good fiddler from Brittany with a huge repertoire, and a good knowledge of the tunes origin.

No chance Ceolachan... I often played with Olivier, and he often came to our local session, where much of his tunes are played now. I guess that's why I often have the same versions as him in my playing, at least concerning tunes like that.
I play that one for a long. I made a search on google because it was a good exemple for the discussion I posted. I found that page, saw the F.C's version, and then found the name of what was for me a "Gan Ainm" so far. Then I saw Olivier's name in the header.
Here's your explication.
However, you're right that I should have written the complete header here.

I see you won't stop the police behaviour on this site. Try not to mess up, though. ;-)

Note-for-note, ornament-for-ornament, note groupings, style, barring ~

'Pollice behaviour' ~ if taken literally, doesn't usually bother itself with trying to make sure there's some attempt at attributions. At least you commented, appreciated, which others don't even bother with.

However, it doesn't surprise me that everything could be identical. It may be it was transcribed from the same source?

It is still good practice to credit one's sources, if only to show a small amount of respect for the roots ~ which can stretch a long ways, as a basic courtesy... There's nothing wrong with cut-n-paste, but it is nice to know sources and it is also lovely to see differences, but if you play it exactly as it is given here, well, c'est la vie... :-/

Well, surely you're right Ceol. But that would be quite wrong too... That's why I think that I won't submit tunes anymore. It's not really my culture, and learning it correctly should be enough to me. That's what will be, I think. BTW this site is by far exhaustive enough now. :-)
