looking for a tune i heard

i heard a song, not actually a tune, at a john doyle concert. its not anythign of his albums he just played it. he tolde me was called "a pound of weak rise" but i could have missunderstood him. im looking for a recording if anyone can help me out. then there was one about a rabbit and coarsing, but i cant remmember the name. lyrics "my heart talleyho…"

Re: looking for a tune i heard

Is it this one: ‘On Yonder Hill’ from the cd Corner Boys by Patrick Street (suits your description). It’s about a hare though, not a rabbit ;)

Re: looking for a tune i heard

Didn’t Geordie Hanna record that song on an LP many years ago?

"Singin’ Ho, Brave Boys Hey Ho" - or words to that effect!

Re: looking for a tune i heard

FOUND IT!

Geordie Hanna & Sarah Anne O’Neill
‘On the Shores of Lough Neagh’
Traditional Songs of a Tyrone Family

1978 on Topic 12TS372 [ in STEREO 🙂 ]

Track Two, first side: ‘On Yonder Hill there sits a Hare’

John Moulden wrote the sleeve notes for this LP & for this track he starts:

"This seems to me the finest of all Ulster’s hunting songs and known only from Geordie who has heard it from no-one but his father and Uncle George."

If you want the words or more background on the song, you can contact John Moulden at:
