Tune Name

Tune Name

I have heard a tune at sessions that I know as the song "Sean South from Garryowen". What is the name of the session tune. Sorry if I have missed it in the Tunes Section.

Re: Tune Name

It’s also known as Roddy McCorley (a rebel from an earlier era) and is a march which probably accounts for it not being in the tunes section. Maybe a Google search would find it as a song.

Re: Tune Name

Yes the Irish husband of mine started humming this as I asked him and the penny dropped when I mentioned Roddy McCorley

Re: Tune Name

I’ve added the melody in the Tunes Section at https://thesession.org/tunes/6673/comments. Personally I feel the odd march or two can make a nice contrast at a session. Roddy McCorley goes well with the Foggy Dew as a follow-up tune.

Re: Tune Name

The first one i can fake on the TW and still don’t know what it is

the rest I could care less about them.

The first time I heard this clip I thought I was an 8 year old kid hearing the Sally Gardens for the first time…again.

Tis a mighty tune!

Re: Tune Name

Hey Key Maniac Lad. I am NOT playing the violin in this clip! I wish I was but I ain’t.

Still great tune but thanks for the thought

Re: Tune Name

FYI, the first tune on that clip is Reel of Rio aka Road to Rio.

Re: Tune Name

Thanks Will, I am certain I heard "The Reel Of Rio" a thousand times played on the box but not like ‘that’, and I must say that way is by far a better way!
