An ghé agus grá gheal ID

An ghé agus grá gheal ID

Can anyone tell me what the last tune of the set called "An ghé agus grá gheal" on Chieftains 5 is? Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: An ghé agus grá gheal ID

It’s a tune called ‘The Gallowglass’, which is a rather jolly Irish double jig version of Niel Gow’s Lament for his Brother, published in 1792.

Thanks, Dónall. This is kind of embarassing for me, because I should have recognised it. "Niel Gow’s lament for his brother" is one of the first tunes that I learned on the fiddle, off Swarbrick’s version of it with Ruaidhrí of the Hills. Can I use the different tempo and alternative figures as an excuse?

Cheers

Oops. Nathaniel, not Niel.
