Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

I was on the verge of placing an order with him but such was the inspiration now I’m off to woodshed on the Ticonderoga!

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

The playing is sketchy and no one should be lead into thinking the pensil is an acceptable instrument for ITM.

Best we draw a line under the whole idea right now.

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

It might sound better in HBflat though.

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

And I’d like to hear him try a few different tunes, maybe:

The Blackthorn Stylus
Graphite Spee
Strop The Eraser

Martin Wynne’s #2 Yellow

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

Pay the Girl Her Fourpencils

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

Actually anything composed by one of the old blind sharpeners.

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

I like Christy Moore songs, maybe some of them will fit this instrument. Spencil Hill comes to mind.

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

LOL - I used to do that too in school. Other good skillls are playing tunes
by squeezing your hands together, belching or using your armpits, but I
didn’t have the talent for those instruments. Teachers were available
though …

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

Pretty good I thought.
But was he *that* proficient back then? Hmm…
We never went on bus, just walked, to both schemie primary and secondary schools. Many pranks and adventures nonetheless ensued…
The only thing like that I remember like that was twoinking a ruler wedged between the desk lid and desk body, during boring history lessons about the formation of Scotland by the Picts, Gaels, Angles and Britons. Much to the consternation of the poor teacher trying to give the history lesson. And that’s now subject close to my heart.
But we were aware that the shorter you made the the bit of the ruler sticking out the higher it sounded. So maybe we didn’t learn much history but some practical physics and a wee bit a music theory.

Often the classroom interferes with your *real* education 🙂

Re: Sailor’s Hornpipe by Rod Cameron

ROD I THINK THAT WAS GREAT. I USED TO PLAY A TUNE ON AN EAR OF CORN. YOU MADE NICE BUTTONS FOR MY ACCORDION. WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
