Vincent McGrath Recordings???

Vincent McGrath Recordings???

I have a recording here from a few years ago called
Ó Cheartlár Mo Chroí by Mayo button accordeonist Vincent McGrath, a beautiful collection of 28 tacks, all his own compositions. It is a magical CD but I’d love to hear what sort of a job this bloke does on “normal” (for want of a better word) tunes. I’m dumbfounded as to why his playing has not acheived the much higher profile it deserves. Does anybody know if he has any other recordings available?
Also the title to me, with my very limited knowledge of Gailge, should mean The Spring of My Heart, but the translation on the cover is given as “Spring In The Air”.

Re: Vincent McGrath Recordings???

Ó Cheartlár Mo Chroí means “From the Core of my Heart”.

Re: Vincent McGrath Recordings???

Many thanks for the correction Liam.

Re: Vincent McGrath Recordings???

I agree with you Tony. He has some great compositions too and I’ve taken the liberty of posting a handful of them here.

Unfortunately, I’ve not found any other recorded material of Vincent but who knows, he may record another album in the future. Over the past few years he has been campaigning against the Shell to Sea project and was actually put in jail for an amount of time a few years ago as part of the “Rossport 5”. I guess that has put his music on hold for a while, though he did do a gig in Dublin in order to raise awareness for the campaign.
