Getting a bow rehaired - Belfast area

Getting a bow rehaired - Belfast area

Does anyone have any recommendations for a fine craftsman who would rehair my bow? It’s not a particularly fine specimen - cost about 90 quid from Matchett’s, but it only has about 10 hairs left…

Any advice/recommendations/tales of experience gladly received.

Any professional violin repairer should be competent in re-hairing bows.

I promise not to mention wig glue, even in a thread about re-hairing…

So much…… if you’re doing it in a session. Just. No.

Re: Getting a bow rehaired - Belfast area

Thanks for your recommendations - I would be particularly interested to hear of any first-hand experiences. Peter Boardman, a fantastic violin-maker based in Co. Down, recommended Chad Koelmeyer’s services- have any of you every sent a bow to him?

Thanks again

Re Chad Koelmeyer

Interesting his name comes up

I have had dealings with him and found him one of the most angry, vindictive people I have ever met. Not sure the craftsmanship is the issue here
