The Bodhran Song

Re: The Bodhran Song

Excellent!

Re: The Bodhran Song

I had a wonderful evening a few years ago in Ireland, in the company of Brían O’Rourke, who wrote that song. He has a wonderful sense of comedy in his song writing. I especially liked his sean nós style song about the miserable old gobsh*te…

Hadn’t heard the bodhrán song in a while. Might have to give that one a new life in sessions around here 😉

Re: The Bodhran Song

Rev, Don’t you mean goatsh*te?

Re: The Bodhran Song

A wonderful song, my favorite part is the fact that the goat’s pa and ma are Bill and Nan.

Re: The Bodhran Song

I also had a wonderful evening of singing with Brian in Pepper’s in January, that Garry Pepper pulled together despite the icy conditions. Singers (if I can remember the names correctly) also included Anne, Eimear, and Celine Moloney, Mary Noonan, and the Vermont singer/songwriter Anais Mitchell.

Re: The Bodhran Song

Lovely song indeed. I especially love that the bodhran player can’t quite grasp that it’s the bodhran that might be wanted here - not the bones!

Re: The Bodhran Song

Splendid stuff, thanks.
