Slip jig name/your favourites

Not trying to be annoying, or a newbie here, but I’ve fallen in love with these tunes, and cannot find their names anywhere. If anyone knows, please could you tell me?

(Sorry about the dance videos)

Also I have a teeny bit of an obsession with slip jigs….I absolutely love them, both to play and dance, so if you wouldn’t mind sharing you’re favourites with me, cos I’m always looking for more nice tunes.

Thank you!

Butterfly, Deirdre’s Fancy, Kid on the Mountain, drops of Brandy, Flying to the Fleadh and The first Slip. The Kid on the Mountain is probably my all-time favourite slip-jig and I don’t think I will get tired of it! 🙂

Re: Slip jig name/your favourites

Nice clip by dancers with Paddy Glackin. Lovely playing and dancing. Thanks for posting the link.

Re: Slip jig name/your favourites

I’m fond of playing several of the ones mentioned. I’d add Paddy Won’t You Be Easy
My Own Wife
Time of Day

Re: Slip jig name/your favourites

My favourites are probably Cahiramee, Eagle’s Whistle, and The Snowy Path. Though my ‘all time favourite’, that I could listen to on loop play, is ‘Farewell to Whalley Range’.

Thanks for the ‘recommendations’…I’ll ABC ‘em then dig the flute out.

Michael McGoldrick’s Farewell to Whalley Range!

Re: Slip jig name/your favourites

Yeah - Farewell to Whalley Range is AWESOME. Unusual key. I also like Drops of Brandy.

Re: Slip jig name/your favourites

Yes, Farewell to Whalley Range!, that’e a great tune

Re: Slip jig name/your favourites

The Night Poor Larry Was Stretched is a great tune. And not just for the lurid name. It’s a sad haunting tune to my ears.

I’m also enduringly smitten by Kid on the Mountain. So many ways to play the different parts! kidonthemountain is my username on youtube.

Re: Slip jig name/your favourites

Ditto the Rakes of Westmeath. Anyone know the story behind it’s other name, The Blast of Wind? (If it’s a euphemism, it must’ve been a mighty "blast" that inspired it. 🙂 )

I like some from Northumberland, including:

Also, The Grinders which I think is from Yorkshire.
