Which tune?

Re: source for tune history or story behind name

If you’re meaning ITM, a great resource for tunes, variations, and some description is here:
Ceol Rince na hÉireann

http://www.nigelgatherer.com/books/CRE/cre1.html

There are 5 volumes all with introductions and notes concerning tunes.

Thanks to Nigel Gatherer for putting this great set online.

BTW - you’ll have to imagine the dots - or buy/borrow the books.

Re: source for tune history or story behind name

The Fiddler’s Companion is totally unchecked. A lot of what it has is right, but they have even less quality control than Wikipedia. Never take its word on anything - go to the sources.

just reference thesession.org on the internet

I’ve never heard of the tune "Thanks Doug," but maybe someone should pen it now….

If someone were to it’d be a fine tune that, as fine as the player himself.
