Bert Jansch R.I.P.

Re: Bert Jansch R.I.P.

Yes, I just heard on Ch4 News. Sad news indeed. Thanks for posting that, SW.

Re: Bert Jansch R.I.P.

I saw him a couple years back in San Francisco. His playing was simply immaculate, and I’ll always remember the show. Up there with John Fahey in terms of fingerpickers, IMHO. He will be missed.

Very sorry to hear that news. What a legend.

I can only echo the many tributes about a man who truly deserves the term legend. A true original and an example of the kind of human spirit that we should all aspire to.

Re: Bert Jansch R.I.P.

Sad news. About 10 years ago, I booked him for my wee folk club up here, & he gave us a magical night.

Re: Bert Jansch R.I.P.

Lovely player; a great loss.

Re: Bert Jansch R.I.P.

Goodbye Bert, your music will live on…

Re: Bert Jansch R.I.P.

Expert guitarist, magical singer-songwriter who set the standards in these things really high right at the start of the British folk boom, and who seems to have been a very decent bloke as well.

"The Scottish folk singer Archie Fisher said it took him two lessons to teach Bert everything he knew. It would have taken one, but on the first lesson they went out and got drunk." - The Guardian obituary.

His album "It Don’t Bother Me" was my musical wallpaper in the Summer of 1972 when I was a Classics student at Oxford.

I spent the time getting drunk and wishing I was somewhere else.
