Viola for Sale!

Viola for Sale!

Hello everyone,

I know this may not necessarily be the place to post this, but I’m sure there are some of you out there who have viola/cello envy ;)

Please follow this link if you would be interested in potentially purchasing a 16.5 in viola.

Re: Viola for Sale!

Armand, this sounds lovely. Seems to me that you yourself should buy this instrument.

Re: Viola for Sale!

Lovely fiddling - great lift and swing.

Re: Viola for Sale!

Guys, it’s not his to keep! Although isn’t possession 9/10 of the law, or something?

Anyway, the YouTube blip reads: “My fellow classmate at the North Bennet Street School, Jacob Mueller, is selling his newly finished viola, modeled after the 1676 Conte Vitale by Andrea Guarneri.”

Re: Viola for Sale!

I still say keep it

Re: Viola for Sale!

yeah, buy it at “mate’s rates”!

Re: Viola for Sale!

Yeah, go on … he’s not your mate if you don’t get the mate rate.

Re: Viola for Sale!

The mate rate? That’s great! Why haven’t I heard of this before? One of my mates has some nice stuff…

Re: Viola for Sale!

Darn

Re: Viola for Sale!

Would love to check it out, the recording sounds wonderful. Unfortunately as it appears the instrument/seller is in the boston area and I’m in California it doesn’t sound like that’ll work out too well. Good luck.

Re: Viola for Sale!

I’m wondering how a viola fits into ITM? I ask because my daughter is going to learn viola for 2 weeks in school and then will have her choice of cello, viola, or violin. I assumed violin would be better for ITM so we could share music.

Re: Viola for Sale!

Anna-Wendy Stevenson of the Scottish band Fine Friday does wonderful things with a viola. I guess there is room for somebody to do something comparable with it in ITM, but perhaps not in a session.

Re: Viola for Sale!

In a session it will make it easier to play most tunes an octave lower, which can give a lovely depth to the sound, and a viola will sound better at this than most acoustic 5-stringers or octave violins.
