Looking for tune names

Re: Looking for tune names

The jig is The Sheep in the Boat (aka. Anach Chuin), composed by Junior Crehan.

Thanks!

Re: Looking for tune names

Not surprised #6 defeated "Tunepal" - it’s departed so far from the original as to be almost unrecogniseable - but we humans are better :

Re: Looking for tune names

When I tried Tunepal on #6, it couldn’t find it until I tried typing the ABCs rather than playing it. Jeremy’s transcription has the A and B parts reversed (in addition to lots of other differences).

Re: Looking for tune names

It’s my transcription.

….by which I mean to say, if there are any inaccuracies in it, they are down to me, but that’s how I learned the tune, and that’s how it was being played when I learned it. My transcription is certainly closer to the original than "#6". I mentioned the reversal of parts in the "Comments".

Re: Looking for tune names

Thanks for the research, much appreciated.

The version I posted on my site is an accurate representation of what I hear played at a local session on a regular basis by some pretty knowledgeable musicians. I’ll leave it up in the name of diversity and local flavour.

Re: Looking for tune names

I meant JayFin’s transcription. He’s Jeremy Finney.

Re: Looking for tune names
