Re: RIP Martin Fay

Very sad to hear this. Great musician who had a stunning career. RIP

Re: RIP Martin Fay

Is he the first of the founding Chieftans to pass away?

It’s the end of an era for sure.

Re: RIP Martin Fay

I believe David Fallon, Michael Turbridy and Sean Potts were also originals, and they are no longer with us.

In any case, another empty seat at the session.

I shall miss your music and your person,
Mr. Fay. Glad I got to shake your hand.

"and they are no longer with us"

First time that I heard Michael Tubridy and Seán Potts had passed away…..

Are you sure?

Re: RIP Martin Fay

First time for me too.

Re: RIP Martin Fay

Sad news.

Re: RIP Martin Fay

To All: VERY SORRY!!

MY BAD ALL OVER,
NO EXCUSES OFFERED!
I AM GUILTY!

In my distraction over Mr. Fay, I misread the information when I looked the other gentlemen up.

Yoou may all style me,
"Piece, The Rumour Monger"
(or worse, I will not complain)
until such time as you may
choose to forgive me.

Again, very very sorry.
In a year or two, I may
respond to a post again.

Re: RIP Martin Fay

Yes, sad news indeed!

@Piece- as Mark Twain (I think!) once remarked "News of my death has been greatly exagerated".

Re: RIP Martin Fay

Thank you , Finbar, we are all merely mortal,
(but we need not run around proving it all the time).

And did Twain not also say,
"Get your facts first, then you can distort them
as you please."?
:-/

Still embarrassed here.

Re: RIP Martin Fay

The Chieftains haven’t been the same since Derek died, and Martin and Sean’s retirements. I loved all of their contributions to the group’s sound and Martin always seemed to have some good bits in their arrangements, something tasty and memorable anyway.
