PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

Since you’re the guitarist I would hope you’d like what you’re doing… 😏 😀

While there’s quite a lot that falls or fails under that amorphous category ‘Keltik’, and a fair share that I’ve listened to and played and like, and so-called ‘early music’ that I’ve also enjoyed ~ various forays, interpretations, reconstructions, cross-overs, blends and time warps ~ this ain’t for me. But, best of luck with your adventures and congratulations on producing your first CD…

I wouldn’t trust any troll with what they might demand for a dowry, but then I wisely didn’t marry a troll wench. Besides, even if I was promised the mines of Solomon, I just haven’t the stomach for the gruel they favour, not liking raw meat and not being a cannibal. 😛

I like it more than I expected to. Still not entirely to my taste, but great musicianship and you’ve clearly worked hard together to create your particular sound. Good luck.

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

Good stuff. I liked it.

“What the foogle is medieval speed folk?” ~ gam

A variant of ‘primeval steam funk’…

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

Gam, please, it’s *celtic* medieval speed folk. That bit qualifies it to be advertised here. They’re good at what they do, not sure how “celtic” it is though. Whatever the “c” word actually means….

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

In a dry marquee in a wet field with a head full of scrumpy and mushrooms, possibly…

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

I think it’s quite nice, although it’d be much better w/o the amphetamines… good playing anyway.

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

Even if it’s progressive traditional seminal purist post-modern psychobilly, it’s damn good playing and a damn good sound. Fair play to you, Stepan and bandmates 🙂

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

I like it, but don’t understand the ‘celtic’ label.

Re: PerKelt - “celtic” medieval speed folk band new release!

David50, I believe it’s something about a certain ethnolinguistic branch of Indo-European peoples, some hundred years ago. Maybe they also played speed folk, who knows? Recordings are rather rare from that time.

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

Nononononononononooooooo….
NOT recorder and spanish guitar !
You must have tin whistle and bouzouki !

Just curious to know if you ever go to sessions, and meet real folk musicians ?

LOL

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

And few can read what might be notation, or just the random distribution of heather and gorse on a hillside…

As to playing, taking just one instrument in the mix, the recorder, there are quite a few players I quite like, and I’m quite fond of percussion and strings too, in the right hands and places, but not this, not here, personally…

Seltis - Seltic - Seltik - Sheltick - Celtic - Keltisch - Cal Tech!!! YAHOO!!!

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

PerKelt’s music is absolutely sublime It is is innovative, evocative, and refreshingly energetic. I saw them live recently. They are all brilliant.y talented. They are the latest “must see” band.

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

I would very much like to hear your music, ceolachan.

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

I liked it too, would definitely wander across a festival to listen. Such energy and musicianship.

Re: PerKelt - celtic medieval speed folk band new release!

Thank you very much for good (and sometime educative🙂) response. And please, accept my apologies for posting here under my civil name and not under the name of the band PerKelt, so it might make a wrong impression. But I really appreciate you consider our music being innovative, rather than just “wrong, because not traditional”. Hopefully see you on some of our gigs, either in UK or on our next Ireland tour.

Kind regards,

Stepan, PerKelt
