Can I make an in-ear monitor with my Nokia phone ?

Can I make an in-ear monitor with my Nokia phone ?

OK … plenty of scope there for wacky responses which I hope to enjoy … but would like some “real” ideas as well 🙂
Not something I would expect to need in a session, but when playing in a band setting it would be very useful. The idea occurred to me when I found I could make my laptop feed direct from its mic to the speakers/phones output. I thought if I could get my Windows phone to do that when playing ‘up front’ it would save me trying to hide my laptop in my pocket.
Have had a look around on the net and found a £5 practice amp for guitars to feed ear phones but a friend who knows a bit about these things said it would be very unlikely to work for acoustic instruments if I plugged in a mic instead of guitar. Shame .. it looked just what I wanted (apart from the colour)

So if anyone can tell me they have something like the above JAXVILLE PINK POCKET AMP that works with a mic input or knows how to get my Nokia 810 to do the job I’ll be ecstatic.

A bad idea, I think. A real in-ear monitor system includes one very important feature: a limiter that clamps down immediately if it detects feedback, or a loud spike from an accident like someone dropping a mic on the floor. It’s to protect your hearing.

A solution cobbled together from odd bits and pieces will work… sort-of, but if you value your hearing you’ll get the real deal. You’ll want better earbuds than the kind used for consumer music players too.

Good thought.
I’ve just experimented with the laptop and can well see (hear) that a mistake/accident could be damaging.
I used the Nokia earphones which have the condenser mic on the same wire as the earbud. This means that if the mic falls it it it will take the earbud out for you but that’s only one problem solved. A technical error with sound output could have serious effects so I appreciate your comment.
If I learnt to create apps I could make one with a limiter … or not :(

I would think you would have delay if that phone was receiving signal wirelessly.

Hi Earl
I’m not wanting to operate wirelessly. Nokia phones have a mic wired with the earphones so I’m trying to find a way to get the phone to feed the mic message directly back to the earphones .
