suggestions for whistle tunes for starting a tune at a session

I’ve been playing D whistle for a few years now so I have a reasonable repertoire; but dont get to many sessions.
However I was at a very busy session recently and found it hard to get a chance to start a tune.
My whistle is an ALBA Q1 so its rather quiet; and most of the tunes I play (eg the Banshee) seem to start at the bottom (= very quiet) end of the register.
I noticed other whistle players seemed to choose tunes starting on a high A or G so it was obvious they wree starting a tune.
Can anyone suggest some such tunes I could learn?

Go to Norbeck’s tune collection at http://www.norbeck.nu/abc/index2.asp?sort=incipit
Click the rhythm you want and then the key you want. You’ll see the first two bars of the tunes arranged alphabetically. Scroll down to those beginning with notes that you feel are high enough, and find some you like. For example, all the reels in G (major, mixolydian, dorian, and minor) starting on high d will appear together.

Here are a few, off the top off my head, that start high (or go up high within the opening phrase):

The Boys of Ballynahinch
The Skylark

If you want a challenge, try Calliope House. it’s in E, but no D sharps.

Jigs: The Mug of Brown Ale, The Maid on the Green, Paidín Ó Raifeartaigh, etc.
Reels: Mary McMahon, The Scholar, The Swallow’s Tail, etc.

You could always just start a tune in the upper octave, then when you have everyone’s attention, drop down to the lower.

maybe you only think they start on high notes because you don’t hear the proceeding low ones

The first tune in the first tutor book I had was The Blackthorn Stick https://thesession.org/tunes/702. I drove the family mad starting up there.

I’m not sure of your sesh but starting a tune confidently means people can join in when they hear you.
