Charlie F. Sherrit or Sherritt

Does anyone know something (except the title of a few tunes) about this musician and composer ?
I can’t find anything on the internet…
Thanks in advance.

I assume you’ve already read Weejie’s contribution here: https://thesession.org/tunes/12664

"All I know about Charlie Sherrit (sometimes spelled with two ‘t’s - but more often with one) is picked up from hearsay . I believe that he was from Aberdeen, and a box player. I gather his name was Charles Fraser Sherrit, and he might have been in the police force at one time. He published his own books. Maybe someone has copies."

@Moxhe

Did you find out anything?

The reason that I ask is that I too am interested in him. I believe that he and my grandfather may have played together in the the Aberdeen City Police Scottish Country Dance Band in the 1950’s. I am in possession of a handwritten manuscript book (written by my Grandfather) that contains compositions by CF Sherrit, H MacDonald, W Spence, George Nicolson. It includes a composition called "The Lodge Walk Reel" (George Nicolson) which was played in the Aberdeen Music Hall in 1954 as part of some sort of concert raising funds for the Mod in 1955. There are 37 compositions by CF Sherrit in the book, one overlaps with the list provided by CreadurMawnOrganig above.

I have a photo of the band from a different gig, one of the people is unnamed and I’m wondering if it is CF Sherrit. From what I have been able to find out - yes, he was a policeman and he died in 1990.
I’d appreciate any other info you have about him….
thanks
