D minor version of The Black Velvet Band

D minor version of The Black Velvet Band

A couple of years ago on Clare FM I caught a haunting version of The Black Velvet Band. Does anyone know it, or the singer that made the recording? Thanks.

Re: D minor version of The Black Velvet Band

I heard it sung in a minor key many years ago around Melbourne, I think by John McCauslan from Poteen fame. It was actually quite a moving version but I’m not sure where he got it from or indeed whether he arranged it that way himself.

Re: D minor version of The Black Velvet Band

Um, it very well might have been me. I recorded it on an album called "Islands on the Moon" in 2008 which I know received some airplay on Clare FM.

I hope you liked it!

If it was my version, I think it’s actually in Eb minor…
