Makers Of Low Bb Flutes

Makers Of Low Bb Flutes

Hi Folks,

I have a simple question - does anyone know of any decent wooden flute makers that make Low Bb keyless flutes in the UK or Ireland? I know that Casey Burns makes them in the USA and they’re about $1,300.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Re: Makers Of Low Bb Flutes

I think all the ‘usual suspects’ make keyless Bb flutes. I’ve heard of people having Murrays, Chris Wilkes has definitely made them, I think maybe Watson, probably some others.

O, and if you want to go just over the Channel, Stefan Morvane makes beautiful keyless Bb flutes. At least, I’ve seen one that was a beauty.

I expect Marcus Hernon in Connemara makes keyless B-flat flutes.

Re: Makers Of Low Bb Flutes

Tom Aebi makes lovely Bbs as well as Olwell,

Leharts are excellent but have huge holes.

Casey Burns have a very easy reach.

Try Martin Doyle? For an Irish maker

Lehart Bb don’t have so huge holes (Hammy’s flutes have bigger ones) but the spacing between them can eventually be a problem. And the flute is quite heavy too. But they sound great.
