Tune selection

Tune selection

hi I’m relatively new to the Irish flute and am looking for a sutable reel to learn any advice is welcome

Re: Tune selection

The 5-mile chase is a good tune. My first reel was The Cup of Tea, I think. However, if you are learning
with a teacher, I suppose your teacher would choose a tune for you, so I assume you are learning on your own.
Even so, I’d say get yourself one of the many tutorials in existence - wether a book, a video or an on-line course - and take what they offer, as it will come with at least some advice.

Re: Tune selection

That tune seems a bit hard with all the cross fingerings on the G and d notes. The Cup of Tea is a lot easier in my opinion.

Re: Tune selection

Thanks for the tunes and advice

Re: Tune selection

basically every reels in G would be suitable for the flute.
five mile chase isn’t hard at all !! you can simplify some patterns. add more rolls there and there… once you will be more comfortable add more complexity
