Wish me luck!!

Wish me luck!!

I’ve been playing whistle since 1993, bodhran since 1995, flute since 2004, and singing since pretty much always. Today I’ve taken a big step and booked my first … fiddle lessons!!

I have a lovely French fiddle (early C20th) recently repaired and serviced, a £25 bow (yeah, I know I’ll need a better one), zero idea of what I’m doing, and I’m REALLY looking forward to getting into it 🙂

Any advice gratefully received…

BURN IT NOW WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
Just kidding. I’d say you’re on your way with a teacher. have fun with it and try not to be too frustrated with the honks, squeaks and various other assorted noises that will no doubt ocme forth while trying to bow a good sounding note.

Re: Wish me luck!!

emmdee, is your teacher a ‘fiddle’ player, or more of a ‘violinist’? I’m simply curious.

Re: Wish me luck!!

Looking forward to hearing you play the fiddle.

Re: Wish me luck!!

Good luck and remember to be patient, the fiddle takes a while to sound musical.

Re: Wish me luck!!

Enjoy it! I’ve been learning for just about 3 years now and have just about got past wanting to throw it out of the window…..

Seriously though, it’s very addictive and fun and challenging and satisfying. Good luck 🙂
