Greenwood pipes
Does anyone have a whistle from Greenwood Pipes? I’m especially interested if it’s made in blackwood.

I own two whistles by Greenwood Pipes. One is made of African Blackwood. The other is made of English Boxwood. Both whistles are excellent. The craftsmanship ranks with the best wooden whistles being made today. The tone is clear and pure. The volume is very good. They transition from the lower to the upper octave with ease. They have two features that I particularly like. The first feature is scalloped tone holes, which allow for quick, comfortable fingering. The other feature is a taller windway, which, for me, has eliminated the problem of moisture clogging the windway. Back-pressure is moderate. The wooden tubes are slightly wider than a Busman whistle, more like the O’Riordan in diameter. All in all, the Greenwood whistles are top-notch whistles. Incidentally, the face behind Greenwood whistles is David Boisvert, and his last name “Boisvert” is translated as “Greenwood”, thus the name of his instrument-making business.
If you are considering one of the Greenwood whistles, keep in mind that David does not accept build orders. He makes a batch of whistles and lists them on his website and on the Chiff and Fipple Forums. They are then sold on a first come-first serve basis.
Thank you. I received one for Christmas (in blackwood) and I love everything about except the C# is a tad sharp. Otherwise, it is wonderful!
