Pigini Cherry wood accordion

Pigini Cherry wood accordion

Hi
I live in the states with limited access to accordion resources. I’ve been interested in the Pigini P36 3 5/2 voices. The choice I have is cherry wood versus regular black. My question is does anyone have experience with the Pigini cherry wood and from your experiences, do you think the wood has any affect on the sound?

Thanks for your consideration in advance.
Tony

Re: Pigini Cherry wood accordion

You are a lot closer to Philadelphia than I am. Might be worth a day trip for you to play several different boxes to see how they sound.
Check out Liberty Bellows website for videos of many of the boxes they sell. Don’t know if they carry Pigini, but you might get a sense of what other wood vs. celluloid boxes sound like.

I think my box sounds fantastic (cherry Saltarelle), but I think it has a lot more to do with reeds than the material the box is made from.

Re: Pigini Cherry wood accordion

Cherry is a gorgeous hardwood but I doubt it effects the sound much.

Thanks so much for the comments!
The people at Liberty Bellows seem like a great group! Unfortunately they don’t sell Pigini accordions.
