What are these guys doing

What are these guys doing

Opening of Pride of Rathmore, at about 1:05. First note is a long E. I can’t tell if they are both doing a quick roll at the beginning of the long note(instead of a normal roll) , but it doesn’t sound like standard roll to me for some reason. It happens several times throughout the playing. Anybody got some good ears and intuition?

I could be wrong, but I think those are short rolls, especially effective on the first finger notes. I learned how to do that only recently. Lot’s of fun, like a quick splash of rhythm.

Re: What are these guys doing

What is the first tune? Maids of Hollywood???

Re: What are these guys doing

Ok not Hollywood :) Thanx

Re: What are these guys doing

I don’t hear anything unusual in the rolls they are playing. Might it just be that, on the longer notes, they are placing their rolls early in the note, rather than at the end, so the roll isn’t on the back-beat so much?

Re: What are these guys doing

I heard Maids of Hollywood too. LOL
