Heading to Dublin

Heading to Dublin

Hi guys.

I am running away from Belfast on the 12th and 13th of July. I wanted to spend those two days on Dublin but avoiding the touristic places and the huge crowds.

Is there any good open session running on Thursday night on Dublin? I have checked on TheSession but there are no recent updates… Any tip?

Thanks!

Re: Heading to Dublin

I loved The Piper’s Corner owned by Sean Potts. There’s sessions every night. The sessions are friendly but I think you need to play on a pretty high level to feel comfortable joining. It’s not far from the Cobblestone which has a more of an open feel with intermediate to advanced players. I highly recommend you go to both. I got to hear Sean Potts and Kevin Glackin play together and it was glorious.

Re: Heading to Dublin

As long as you can play, you’re welcome in most Dublin sessions.

The Cobblestone has music from 5pm most days.

The only issue is that those dates coincide with the Willie Clancy Week so many of the session regulars will be in west Clare.
