Irish Tenor Banjo Teacher in Nottinghamshire Area?

Irish Tenor Banjo Teacher in Nottinghamshire Area?

Hello,

I’m a student at the University of Nottingham and I am studying the Irish Tenor Banjo as a part of my course. I have been trying very hard to find a teacher in the Nottinghamshire area but have so far been unsuccessful. If anyone knows anyone that could be of assistance, please let me know!

Thanks
Daniel Watson

Re: Irish Tenor Banjo Teacher in Nottinghamshire Area?

Hi Daniel, and welcome.

Your best options might be:
1) Get yourself down to the Thursday session in the city (still at the King William IV pub?). Someone there will either be, or will know how to contact, a good local tenor banjo player. Ask them.
2) Pop into the Irish Centre (used to be down a couple of streets away from the station, hopefully still is), read all the notices, and ask whoever you can find there.

What course are you taking that allows you to study banjo?

Hi Jerry,

Followed this advice and went down to the King Billy last night. Fantastic session and met some great people!
I am currently taking a performance module on the music course at University of Nottingham that allows us to perform on whatever instrument we choose.
Thanks,
Dan
