Re: Tune ID

I know it, but I’m struggling to think where I got it from. A recording, I think; something in the Old Blind Dogs vein. Where did you come across it?

Re: Tune ID

I was sent an mp3 of it by Rick Taylor. He doesn’t know what it’s called. I think it was played in his groupwork class at Blazin in Beauly last year.

Re: Tune ID

It’s not in the Blazing tunebooks(!) It bears some similarity to the Bodachan na tri ordagan:

But clearly not the same, the third bars breaking the progression.

Re: Tune ID

Asking a friend who was there at Blazin’ in Beauly last year if she knows: but if Rick didn’t know the name then, it seems unlikely that she’ll find it!

Re: Tune ID

Yes, Trish. But, hey ho, you never know.

Re: Tune ID

It’s the highland piping version of The Primrose Lass.

Re: Tune ID

Rick would have got it from Angus Nicolson.

Re: Tune ID

Actually sorry no, it’s Allan MacDonald’s tune Dr. Alasdair MacKenzie

Re: Tune ID

Thanks bogman, that’s a better title than “Rick’s Beauly Tune”.
