March tune ID puzzle

March tune ID puzzle

A friend sent me a very brief snippet of a whistled 4/4 march, looking for a tune name. Sounds like the ending phrase for a tune…i imagine it may have lyrics as well. He couldnt get me a longer clip or provide further context. A challenge for the Tune ID aficionados?

I can’t find it in the tune search by transposing the ABC to G or A. In G, here’s the ABC:
ba|g2 g2 B2 Bc|d>e dc B2 AB|cB AB G2 G2|G8|]

Re: March tune ID puzzle

Yes it sounds like the final four bars of something.

Sounds a bit familiar but I can’t place it. I think it’s a song.

Re: March tune ID puzzle

Sounds a bit like the end of the A music of Old Grey Cat - 5th setting at

although this is Eminor not G.

Hope this helps

Re: March tune ID puzzle

Tunepal only takes capital letters for its search

Good to know, thanks!

Thanks, all!

Re: March tune ID puzzle

Tried it in my tune search engine (http://abctunesearch.com), which does take into account the octaves. But it’s best guesses were "Where’s the Slave so Lowly", and "The Little Heathy Hill" both from O’Neill’s, but I don’t think it’s either of those.
