Anyone know what is the third tune in this (supposedly) classic set?

Anyone know what is the third tune in this (supposedly) classic set?

Hi All,

I would like to share some box music with you and am looking for the last tune in this classic set. Any idea’s or suggestion what could be tune #3? The set passed me by in a live facebook video and I didn’t manage to record it. Find it kinda tricky to match the drive of the second tune…

Hi Jusa, thanks, that’s the second tune indeed. I am looking for the tune people usually play after Paddy Taylor’s…

Maybe look through this list: https://thesession.org/tunes/5430/recordings/864 The Cordal and Paddy Taylor’s have been recorded together a few times. So the tune you’re looking for might be Contentment Is Wealth or Port Chuilinn (or maybe Julia Clifford’s)

Kenny, the youtube video above is by the O.P., and he’s saying that this is a classic set with a third tune following the two in the video (Cordal and Paddy Taylor’s), and he’s trying to figure out what that third tune is…

Hi Reverend, thanks that ‘s a good suggestion! I’ll give that a try :-)

Re: Anyone know what is the third tune in this (supposedly) classic set?

Thanks for explaining that, "Rev", it was far from clear what he meant, to me anyway. It can’t be that "classic" a set if it’s not showing up in the recordings here. Best of luck with your search.

On irishtune.info, both of the tunes appear to be associated with ‘The Hag With the Money’. Could this be the tune you are after?

Re: Anyone know what is the third tune in this (supposedly) classic set?

Hi Brian, no, I think it was in G but Hag with the money is a nice choice after all. It seems the set isn’t so standard after all…
Thanks for checking :-)

Re: Anyone know what is the third tune in this (supposedly) classic set?

Remember that "classic sets" can be very local (or associated with a certain musician from the area). Sometimes you hear a certain set in multiple sessions, while outside the village, the tunes aren’t played at all.

Re: Anyone know what is the third tune in this (supposedly) classic set?

Good point, Jeff. Here in the US midwest Paddy Taylor’s Jigs 1 & 2 are often played together—maybe not enough to be a "classic" set, but near enough.

Re: Anyone know what is the third tune in this (supposedly) classic set?

One other thing that you might consider is that often times, facebook live videos are available still after they’re done (if you can find it again). Or, if you are friends with whomever was streaming it, you could ask them! I figure you might have already been down that road, but thought I’d mention it…

A jig in G that is sometimes played with Paddy Taylors
(at least Paudie O’Connor taught us the two together) is
"Bimis Ag Ol" https://thesession.org/tunes/3456
