The Blarney Pilgrims - Irish Music Podcast

The Blarney Pilgrims - Irish Music Podcast

Hello,

My name is Darren and I co-create a new Irish Music Podcast called the Blarney Pilgrims (www.blarneypilgrims.com) that I think you’ll like.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro when it comes to trad, or you’re like me, and you’re simply starting to learn about the music and the culture around it, there is something for everyone in here.

The show runs like this: each week we take an hour to sit down and have a few tunes and a chat with players and ask them how and why they fell in love with the music. These weekly stories give us a brief glimpse behind the curtain, and shows us what really drives this music and the people behind the culture.

It’s actually quite a special thing. (But then again I make it, so I’m gonna say that, haha)

Anyway, here’s how you can listen to it.

You can get it from iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-blarney-pilgrims-podcast/id1465837611

You can get it from Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3y6NGyimQJvqmKtcbj4OvV?si=w9j1K74-QaOUti4_Ea0f0A

Or you can search for The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast on your regular podcast app.

But if you’d rather just listen from your browser, you can just go here: www.blarneypilgrims.com

So that’s it. It’s free to listen, so dig in and enjoy!

Cheers,
Darren & Dominic

Hi Darren, I’ve been really enjoying these. I’d love to hear one with Blackie O’Connell or Leo Rickard.

Great. Started to follow on spotify.

Re: The Blarney Pilgrims - Irish Music Podcast

I just listens to this podcast for the first time. I chose the Daoirí Farrell episode. It’s absolutely wonderful. Daoirí is a brilliant storyteller and more importantly the interviewer allows him to speak without inane interruptions.
Congratulations on a fabulous podcast Darren & Dominic. I look forward to checking the other episodes.

Re: The Blarney Pilgrims - Irish Music Podcast

This is an outstanding podcast. All episodes have been great. I especially love the ones with visiting (or visited) Irish musicians Farrell, Macnamara, O’Brien & Burke. Australian flute player Beth McCracken’s interview is also really wonderful. Definitely subscribe and well done to the Melbourne-based team. A winner.

Re: The Blarney Pilgrims - Irish Music Podcast

I listen to a lot of podcasts, and this is one of my favorites. The interview with Kevin Burke is worth the sub by itself.

Have a listen.

Re: The Blarney Pilgrims - Irish Music Podcast

Hello everyone!

Thank you all so much for the kind words and support. We have a question we hope you can help with. We’d like to keep this board up-to-date with our weekly episodes but we don’t want to annoy anyone or make it feel like we’re spamming. So with that in mind where would you suggest us posting so people that are interested will see but people that don’t care don’t feel like we’re beating them with a stick? Do you think a new discussion post a week - with the interviewees name, a brief description and links is too much?

It would be great to get your thoughts.

WITH THAT SAID!!!

Here’s this weeks episode with John Carty. As usual you’ll find it wherever you get podcasts or just follow your link of choice below:
