Fiddle teachers UK?

Fiddle teachers UK?

I’m looking for an advanced fiddle teacher somewhere in the North of England, or possibly North Wales, or failing that someone who can teach over Skype. I’m looking to learn more of the stylish elements of the music, especially looking to improve on my ornamentation. Unfortunately I don’t drive yet, so unless my husband can drive me, I’d have to get there by public transport. I don’t mind traveling a bit if it’s for a really good teacher.

I’m getting worried about next summer when I’ll be playing at my sister’s wedding, by myself, to entertain 80 guests during the lunch buffet. I’ve not even been playing for a year yet, and while I’m doing well, I don’t feel like I sound good enough for doing a solo wedding gig, and I could really use some guidance!

Re: Fiddle teachers UK?

The OP is “learning Irish fiddle” and living in Crewe, which probably knocks out the above 3 for 2 reasons.
Hope to see you again in November, David.

Re: Fiddle teachers UK?

That’s why I mentioned Skype 🙂 Just trying to provide more options.
Also, yeah, I think I’ll be able to make it. Will be good to see yous Kenny.

Grace Kelly from Manchester is a great player and teacher (sister of John Joe Kelly, Bodhran). She also runs lots of sessions on the Manchester scene. Crewe to Manchester on the train only takes about an hour. If you have any problems contacting her online let me know and I’ll try get her number or email.

Thanks everyone, I’ve popped an email to Grace Kelly now. Hopefully if she can’t take me, she might know someone who can!
