Irish Mouth Harp?

Irish Mouth Harp?

Hello!

I was just curious if anyone here plays Irish tunes on the mouth harp (also known as the Jew’s harp and jaw harp, among other names)? I haven’t been playing for long, but I’ve been trying to play along with some recordings and have been having a blast - I can tell in the right hands that this little instrument has some potential for some great ‘mouth music.’ Any jaw harpers out there playing Irish tunes? Additionally, has anyone ever come across tracks or albums that feature the mouth harp? I’ve found a few, but wondered if more is out there?

Here’s two jems I found online: (With the first video including just a touch of harp, while the second ‘goes to town’!)

Thank you all for any recommendations!

You need to hear "session.org" member "ptarmigan". "Bucks Of Oranmore" ? No problem.

Le Vent Du Nord use one in some recordings as backing. Not sure how well it would go with tunes though.

That second one, Flanagan Brothers, sounded a lot more like American music to me.
