Can you get a tweaked Generation whistle in the UK?

Can you get a tweaked Generation whistle in the UK?

I’ve seen some tweaked by people in the US, anywhere closer to home so i don’t have to pay customs on them.

This is very interesting to me.

I love the idea of tweaked whistles (in terms of getting an augmented traditional sound of the classic instruments) however I am squeamish about another person having had their lips on the mouthpiece and I am sure some old bloke would have had his slobbering lips on it in order to test the sound of it right?

No need to be so squeamish @WindMusic.
How to deal with slobbered whistle:
1 Pour yourself a very large glass of whiskey (preferably Irish)
2 Dunk the mouthpiece of the whistle in the whiskey and stir it about.
3 Alternate between drinking and whistling.
4 Continue until the glass is empty.
5 Repeat from 1 until the bottle is empty.
During this procedure expect a rapid improvement of mood, a gradual deterioration of whistling and a complete lack of interest in whether or not the whistle has been slobbered.

Do you want a whistle that’s in tune or not?

Re: Can you get a tweaked Generation whistle in the UK?

Yes but I would sooner take a machine fashioned one sans slobbering bloke.

OMG. Where to begin. . . . .

Re: Can you get a tweaked Generation whistle in the UK?

Basically there isn’t a machine-built “tweaked” whistle. The tweaking is generally done by people who don’t make the whistles they’re tweaking. And they have to play them to be sure what they’re doing works. At the very least, I’ve never found a cheapo whistle that can’t be improved by taking the mouthpiece off and filling in the gap with BluTac, so if you can’t face the thought of other folks’ slobber then try this.
Or you can try the suggested whiskey method. Vodka also works, if that’s what you like. I’d avoid meths… 🙂
