Garda Patrol
Lads, what was the tune at the start of Garda Patrol, back in the 70’s. there was lots of bodhrán, and put the fear of god into you.
Was it on after “mart and market” or before?

Gobby: everyone is included in “lads”. Don’t make me go all LGbq++++++ or I’ll be here all day.
Okay, Finbar, maybe it’s just a cultural thing.
If you listen to the drums in this clip, you’ll get the idea. Maybe it was the 60’s then!

What put the fear of God in you, the drums themselves or the concept of Garda on patrol?
Last year we stayed in Dublin for a week, it was one those “what were you thinking??” scenarios because we booked a lovely-looking (on the internet) Air B&B on…wait for it…Oriel Street.
All the locals we told were shocked. We were told horrible stories.
What made us feel better was the Garda car perpetually parked where Oriel, Commons, and Sheriff come together, two officers placed where they can keep a watch on everything.
Don’t know the name of the tune but An Garda Siochana website lists the ABC notation as follows:
nee NAW / nee NAW / nee NAW
(with gradual descent in pitch….)
Sorry Finbarr 🙂
