Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

Re: Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

Hahaha! I love it! A reedless bag pipe. Is there such a thing as a bag blown flute in any tradition?

Re: Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

I’ve heard of mahogany gas pipes.

Re: Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

Mahogany gaspipes•(slang, Ireland) Someone who wishes to sound authentically Irish but cannot speak the Irish language.
Ha! I like it.

Re: Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

There’s a local piper who started out playing his home-made "ball pipe" which was a Practice Chanter stuck into a basketball. This piper went on to win a Silver Chanter in Open Piobaireachd.

Re: Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

Sounds almost as good as my piping attempt. The only attempt I made, I hasten to add.
A farmer pal told me I sounded like a calf that’s been taken away from its mother.

Re: Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

It sounds rather like a dog singing along to bagpipes.

Re: Fancy being a ‘pipemaker’?

This seems like a contraption to annoy dogs lol. I feel like with some fine-tuning you could get this to sound decent and actually serve as a practice pipe if you so desire to do so. Seriously though I have to give props to this guy. He figured out how to do it. I’ve always wanted to make my own instruments and figure out how to tweak them. Never really learned how though.
