Jeremy Keith (Mandolin) - Episode 43 - The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

Jeremy Keith (Mandolin) - Episode 43 - The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

As many of you will know, Jeremy Keith is the founder and keeper of thesession.org, probably the greatest Irish music resource in the world. And this episode hopefully has something of the generous essence of that archive. We flow, from The North as a different planet, to Galway as the centre of the ’90s slacker world. From the one-tune-a-week origin of thesession.org and managing an online community to the richness and value of constancy. AND we have the first ever Blarney Pilgrims mention of Scullion. (What took us so long?) Beautiful.

In this episode Jeremy plays:
Junior Crehan’s (Jig) and The Mist Covered Mountain
The Pipe on the Hob
The Boys of Malin
And a couple of jigs we don’t have names for, that are generally the openers for the Wednesday night session in The Jolly Brewer, in Brighton.

Re: Jeremy Keith (Mandolin) - Episode 43 - The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

I’ve been getting behind on these podcasts, since I’ve stopped travelling by train to London on a regular basis. I’ve got some catching up to do.

Re: Jeremy Keith (Mandolin) - Episode 43 - The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

Really enjoyed listening to this Jeremy. I’ve been a member of the session.org for years so hearing about its beginnings and development was so interesting. Thank you for care taking such a fantastic and valuable resource

Re: Jeremy Keith (Mandolin) - Episode 43 - The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

Thanks for the interview with Jeremy. Dipped into the session so many times over the years for tunes and sessions near me or my holiday City over the years.
Seems I should overcome my reluctance to comment in discussions or add tunes.

Re: Jeremy Keith (Mandolin) - Episode 43 - The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

Great listen. A meta-discussion if ever there was one - but it was off The Session, so that’s OK.

Thanks, Jeremy, for keeping this site going - it will surely be classified as a ‘World Heritage Site’ in years to come… and thanks for letting us in behind the scenes.

Re: Jeremy Keith (Mandolin) - Episode 43 - The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

Great work, it is always a pleasure to listen this podcast.
As mentioned, it is interesting to discover the voice behind the nickname and the beginning of this endless collection of tunes. Now I am watching it with different eyes.

Thanks for sharing ;)
