Andy Dickson RIP

The hugely respected and talented fiddler Andy Dickson died of a heart attack on Saturday 18 April.
Already there is a huge outpouring of grief from his fellow musicians with whom he played in sessions in Belfast and surrounding areas.

Very sorry to hear that. One of the mainstays of traditional Irish music in Belfast for many years, and several musicians for whom I have the highest respect always spoke very highly of him, as a player, and a character.
RIP.

Re: Andy Dickson RIP

Remembering Andy Dickson. … Andy Dickson’s partner, Anne Bailie, invited all his friends to spend 15 or 20 minutes, thinking of Andy today, as we cannot be present at the crematorium to say our farewells. So, as I learned these two lovely wee Fermanagh tunes from the playing of Andy Dickson himself, I recorded them this morning, with my wife Sabine on Harp, here in our Co. Antrim garden.

No doubt Andy is having one mighty Fiddle session right now, with the likes of Ernie Swain, Ben Lennon & Tommy Peoples.

Re: Andy Dickson RIP

So sorry to hear about Andy. Spent many’s a night with him in Rossa GAC and the Rotterdam Bar at the docks. My sincere condolences to his grieving family especially at this time. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Andy.
